Brian Tome Steps Down as Crossroads Senior Pastor One Month After Returning From His Suspension

The founding and longtime leading pastor of Crossroads Church in Cincinnati, Ohio ,Brian Tome, has stepped down from his honourable position as senior pastor of the church but will remain involved with the church through teaching and other ministry activities to understand the church.

Tome reportedly announced his leadership transition during a recent Sunday sermon, which he explained that he will take on the title of founding senior pastor while handing his previous leadership responsibilities to Kyle Ranson, who has served as Crossroads’ lead pastor.

Under the new arrangement and agreement, Ranson will now become the church senior pastor and assume the authority and all responsibilities which were previously held by Tome, including Tome’s seat on the church’s board. Remember Tome previously said he is not leaving Crossroads church and will continue to contribute through preaching, mentoring, camp ministry, his podcast and speaking engagements.

This transition follows shortly after Tome returns to teaching following his suspension and extended leave of absence. The church reportedly launched an investigation into a 2015 an alleged incident involving inappropriate physical humor toward a male church member. Church leaders then reported that the allegation was substantiated and that a third-party witness corroborated the account.

Tome was later suspended for the period of one month and subsequently took several months away from his regular ministry responsibilities while participating in what church leaders described as a process of reflection, reconciliation and repentance. He returned to teaching in late August.

While announcing his latest role, Tome further described his longtime position as senior pastor as a familiar chapter that he believes is time to leave behind. He said the change will allow him to focus on areas of ministry that continue to energize him.

Crossroads began in 1995 with a small group of people in Cincinnati and has since grown into a large multisite church with locations across Ohio and Kentucky.

Tome emphasized that his departure from the senior pastor role does not mean the end of his relationship with Crossroads. Instead, the move marks a significant shift in leadership while allowing him to remain active in teaching and ministry.
