Rev. Flourish Klink Says Jesus Became Transgender After His Resurrection
An Episcopal priest, Rev. Flourish Klink, has presented a new waving unconventional theological interpretation of Jesus True Identity, stating that Jesus could be understood through the lens of transgender theology.
This now trending sermon happens in March 2026 homily delivered during a Celebration of Trans Joy and Resilience (CTJR) at the New York City’s Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. Klink went on to argued that God is beyond traditional human categories of gender. Klink then applied that idea particularly of her’s directly to Jesus.
According to her, when God took human form as Jesus, Mary saw a baby boy and assigned him a male gender. Klink then said, however, God is way more beyond the categories of male and female.
Klink further pointed to the resurrection accounts, stating that the disciples sometimes struggled through to recognize the risen Jesus. While acknowledging that, although the Bible does not explain why Jesus happened to appear differently. Klink then offered a personal theological understanding and interpretation: Jesus was resurrected as his “true self,” beyond male or female, and had transitioned.
The sermon was delivered as part of an event which focuses on transgender people and Christian faith. Klink currently serves as an assistant priest at Christ & Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Manhattan.
Klink labeled the interpretation as a message of hope for transgender Christians, connecting Jesus’ resurrection with the idea of becoming one’s authentic self.
