Grammy-nominated Singer, Matthew West Says ‘Jesus Is King’ Challenges Culture of Self-Empowerment
Matthew West, A Christian recording artist is preparing to release his new album titled “Jesus Is King” a project he says it could challenge the culture of self-empowerment and also points listeners toward them surrendering their lives to Christ.
The album which contains a total of 12-tracks is scheduled to be released on September 25, 2026. Mind you, West has described the project as deeply personal, saying its message developed from his desire to examine who Jesus Christ truly is and what it means to recognize Him as King.
According to West ideology, modern culture often emphasizes independence, personal control and the idea that people must create their own strength. He believes the Christian understanding of surrender offers a different perspective.
For West, surrendering to Jesus is not about losing your freedom. Rather, he says it can lead believers toward genuine strength and freedom through trusting a higher authority.
The singer also explained that the album grew from his own faith journey. A Christian since childhood, West said the songs became reminders to himself that fear, failure and the pressures of the world do not have the final word.
The album follows a concept in which each song explores an aspect of who Jesus is. Its tracklist includes songs such as “Good,” “Back to Jesus,” “The Good Fight,” “Shame Is Not My Story,” “Here & Heaven,” and the title track “Jesus Is King.”
West hopes the project will encourage listeners to reconsider what occupies the center of their lives and to place their trust in Christ.
With Jesus Is King, the Grammy-nominated artist is presenting more than a collection of songs. He is using the album to share a message about faith, surrender, redemption and the belief that Jesus remains King regardless of the circumstances people face.
