Court Has Issues A Mixed Ruling In Lawsuit Against Prophet Lovy Elias.

A court in Los Angeles has reportedly issued a mixed ruling in a civil lawsuit which involves a pastor and religious leader Prophet Lovy Elias and Revelation Church LA, providing a new development in a case that has attracted much attention since it was filed around 2025.

The lawsuit, identified as Jane Doe 1 v. Lovy Elias et al., was filed last year in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The plaintiff has made numerous allegations against prophet Elias, including claims of him involving a se-x-ual conduct, harassment, emotional distress and also the alleged disclosure of private information. Elias and the church have faced the allegations in their capacities as defendants in the civil proceeding.

The latest significant development came during a September 2, 2026, hearing before Judge Michael R. Amerian. The court considered challenges filed by Elias and Revelation Church LA seeking to have various claims dismissed or otherwise limited.

The judge further issued a mixed decision instead of dismissing the entire case.

According to the court’s ruling, Elias’s demurrer was sustained in part. Several claims have been dismissed at that stage, and this includes the plaintiff’s claim for se-x-ual battery and a claim involving breach of fiduciary duty. A negligence claim against prophet Elias was as well sustained without leave to amend.

However, other parts of the lawsuit reportedly survived Elias’s challenge.

The court overruled the demurrer concerning claims for intentional infliction of emotional distress and public disclosure of private facts. This means those claims were allowed to continue past that particular challenge.

The court also sustained the challenge to the se-x-ual-harassment claim with leave to amend. That distinction is important because it gave the plaintiff an opportunity to revise the claim rather than ending it permanently at that stage.

Revelation Church LA was also involved in the September proceedings. The court sustained the church’s demurrer with leave to amend regarding claims brought against the church. Its motion to strike was denied.

The ruling does not establish that the allegations made by the plaintiff are true or false. Instead, the September decision primarily addressed whether particular claims were legally sufficient as pleaded and whether they could proceed under the applicable legal standards.

The court’s order gave Jane Doe 1 until September 18, 2026, to file an amended pleading concerning claims for which amendment was permitted.

The case also has another related component. Court records indicate that a second lawsuit, identified as Jane Doe 2 v. Lovy Elias et al., was determined to be related to the first case. The court previously designated the Jane Doe 1 case as the lead case.

As of September 30, publicly indexed sources reviewed for this report did not show a new public statement from Elias, Revelation Church LA or the plaintiff specifically responding to the September 2 ruling. The available court ruling therefore remains the clearest documented September development.

For now, the case continues with some claims dismissed, some claims surviving, and others subject to amendment. Further filings or court hearings could provide additional information as the litigation progresses.
