Pastor David Hughes Of Church by the Glades Drives Million-Dollar McLaren Onto Church Stage For Sermon Illustration.
The lead pastor of the Church by the Glades in Coral Springs, Florida, Pastor David Hughes, has attracted attention to the media after driving a McLaren 765LT supercar which is estimated to be around $382,500 onto the church stage as part of a sermon illustration.
The unusual entrance of McLaren 765LT supercar was featured during the church’s “One Day or Day One” sermon series, which he used a Formula One racing as a theme to attract racing enthusiasts and introduce them to the church’s message.
According to October 12, 2026, dated report, Hughes drove the luxury sports car onto the stage during several services, and this was accompanied by fog machines and strobe lights.
But there’s a problem, the elaborate presentation encountered very huge unexpected challenges when the vehicle reportedly stopped functioning after the 1 p.m. service. The production team tried their best to move the car of the church stage, and all efforts were aborted leaving it stranded on the stage and disrupting preparations for the evening service of the same day.
The sermon used supercar McLaren was described in the report as a million-dollar vehicle, estimated around $382,500 although the exact purchase price was not independently established, but this is a roughly presented price by us.
NOTE; Church by the Glades describes itself as a “hyper-creative church” known for incorporating popular culture, elaborate productions and contemporary entertainment into its worship services.
After the presentation and while receiving huge criticism from the public, Hughes has previously defended the church’s creative approach, saying its goal is to reach people who do not know Christ or believe in him. The incident has further drawn attention to the church’s unconventional methods of combining entertainment and preaching.
