Former Satanist Shayne Smith Reveals Why He Suddenly Abandoned Witchcraft and Became a Christian On A Discussion With The Bryce Crawford Podcast.
Well-known American comedian and Ex-satanist, Shayne Smith has recently shared his journey from Satanism and occult practices to embracing Christianity during an interview with young Christian podcaster Bryce Crawford on The Bryce Crawford Podcast.
In the episode, titled “Ex-Satanist Reveals What REALLY Happens When You Practice Witchcraft,” which was published October 14, 2026, Smith the ex-satanist further described his past involvement in Satanism, atheism, including criminal activity, and magical practices before his conversion to Christianity and fully accepting Christ.
Shayne Smith during the interview explained that he developed interest in occult practices after becoming involved with some individuals who introduced him to the other world religions such as rituals, spells, and ideas about the power of belief. What initially began as an interest in provocative imagery and Satanic culture later developed into a more serious personal practice and belief.

During the conversation, Smith recalled experiences that left him frightened. He described being alone in his home when he felt an overwhelming sense of dread and an oppressive presence that he interpreted as something evil.
According to him, these particular experiences contributed to his sudden decision to leave behind the occult practices. He highlighted that fear, rather than a self sudden realization about his moral character, played a significant role while he departed from the black magic practice lifestyle.
The comedian also discussed a significant moment in his spiritual journey involving a Catholic church. Following recurring dreams about being inside a church after his grandfather’s death, Smith eventually visited one, an experience that became an important part of his conversion story.
According to Smith, he said his decision to leave Satanism and embrace Christianity came with huge and professional consequences. He lost tens of thousands of followers, experienced cancelled performances, and saw ticket sales decline. He also faced hostility, including death threats, after publicly sharing his conversion.
Throughout the interview, Crawford asked Smith about his former beliefs, experiences with witchcraft, and the changes that followed his decision to become a Christian.
The discussion on the podcast focuses more on Smith’s personal testimony about leaving occult practices and embracing faith. His account offers listeners insight into the experiences, that shaped his spiritual transformation and changed the direction of his life for good.
