Nearly 900 Baptized At Lakepointe Church As Pastor Josh Howerton Removes Every Excuse

According to the flying records, nearly 900 people were baptized at Lakepointe Church during a special Baptism Weekend, with the lead of the Senior Pastor Josh Howerton urging people not to let practical concerns stop them from taking the step of publicly identifying themselves with Christ.

The actual numbers of people baptized were 882 (That’s why nearly 900 people were used on the headlines) and this happens across eight campuses. The weekend reportedly brought together people from different backgrounds and generations, including families who participated in the baptism together.

During the service, Howerton further addressed some of the everyday reasons a lot of people might hesitate to get baptized. Rather than allowing items like clothing, towels or other preparations to become obstacles, he told the congregation that the church had already prepared for them.

“If I don’t have a towel,” one imagined objection began. Howerton responded that the Lakepointe had provided thousands of towels available. He also explained that the church had clothing in different sizes and this includes underwear and even hair nets for people who had not arrived prepared for baptism.

His central message was simple: people did not have to have everything arranged beforehand.

“You didn’t come ready for him, he came ready for you,” Howerton said, encouraging those who felt led to participate to simply come forward.

The baptism weekend reflected Lakepointe’s emphasis on helping people publicly express their faith and take another step in their Christian journey.
